The Guild of Friends Magic Party

On Sunday, 28th September we held a children’s party to help raise funds for the Guild. We were celebrating 14 years of our supporting POD, who provide entertainment on the wards in the hospital.  Colin Dymond and Snot the Dragon, who put in regular appearances at the hospital, came to entertain us all – parents and children alike. Colin makes magic and is an enchanter, with his dragon, his naughty shaggy dog and his parrot. One mother said of the party ‘ My boys adored the party! They couldn’t stop talking about it!’
Our thanks go to Colin and also to Baker Ross who generously donated materials for two craft tables at the party. Thank you to all who came to support the Guild and the work it does for the hospital. If you would like to see Snot the Dragon you can contact Colin at aceofdiamonds.co.uk.

Mothering Sunday Posies

Last Friday, The Guild of Friends of the Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital committee came together for one of our favourite annual activities, making posies for Mothers Day.   Traditionally, every year, The Guild of Friends produces 100 or more fresh flower Mothering Sunday posies.   We fill empty baby milk bottles with flowers, deliver them to the hospital and then every child who is currently resident at the hospital has a little posy of flowers to give their mother on Sunday.

Mendip Fair 2013

This charity fair is run by an independent committee who for the last 15 years have supported The Guild of Friends of the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.   This year the Mendip Fair raised £11,850 in total and this was shared between the two chosen charities – The Guild of Friends of the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and Children’s Hospice South West.

The Guild of Friends received £5,925 from the proceeds of the fair and our grateful thanks go to the Mendip Fair Committee for allowing us to benefit from this wonderful event.

Bristol Grammar School Carol Concert Collection

Bristol Grammar School very kindly had a collection after their carol concert in December and have donated the fantastic total of £746.00 to the Guild of Friends.  We would like to say a huge thank you for this very generous donation.  BGS has supported the Guild of Friends for many years and every  year they give us the proceeds from their carol concert collection.  Thank you for all your support over the years.
